How to Get Stronger with Pictos and Colour of Lumina in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, collecting and mastering Pictos is one of the best ways to power up your characters. Once you master a Picto, it can be turned into Lumina, which gives your characters extra bonuses.
But each character has a limit on how many Lumina they can use. To raise this limit, you need something called Colour of Lumina.
Leveling up and upgrading weapons helps, but using more Lumina makes your builds—like the Auto-Death build—even more powerful. Below are the best ways to find Colour of Lumina throughout the game.
Early Game: Where to Find Colour of Lumina
At the beginning of the game, there aren’t many good farming spots for Colour of Lumina. The first major spot appears near the end of Act 2, but here are some early ways to get it:
- Check Merchants often—many sell a few Colour of Lumina.
- When you reach Gestral Village, talk to Berrami in the market. He gives you 20 Colour of Lumina for every few Expedition Journals you find.
- Berrami becomes available as soon as you arrive at the village. You can return anytime, and if you wait, your rewards will stack up.
Mid-Game Farming Spot (End of Act 2)
⚠️ Minor Spoilers Below
Toward the end of Act 2, go into Inside The Monolith and continue until you reach the last flag at the end of Tainted Lumiere.
- From the flag, turn around and go back into the town.
- Pass the first enemy group on your left.
- Stay on the left side of the road (buildings on the left, a crack on the right).
- Look to the right—you’ll see a grapple point.
- Across it is a miniboss with two smaller enemies.
This battle always drops 5 Colour of Lumina and can be farmed easily by resting at the flag to reset the enemies.
Late Game: Best Colour of Lumina Farming Spots
When you reach Act 3, start with the Endless Tower. Most of the trials here give you Colour of Lumina and will prepare you for late-game challenges.
The best farming area is Renior’s Drafts:
- Many enemies drop Colour of Lumina.
- You’ll also get high-level weapons, Grandiose Chroma Catalyst, and lots of XP.
- You’ll need Esquie’s dive ability to access this area.
If you’re only farming for Colour of Lumina (not XP or gear), the miniboss fight from Act 2 might be faster, especially if you’re strong enough to win quickly.
But the best long-term method is a merchant in Renior’s Drafts:
- From the Golden Tree flag, go down the ramp and grapple to the top of the nearby building.
- You can farm enemies near here for 1–2 Colour of Lumina per fight.
- However, this area requires a very high-level character with a strong build.
