Castle Story: Beginner’s Guide

GETTING STARTED

Building your Kingdom requires a careful balance of managing your resources, and increasing your Royal Points. If you’re having problems keeping your Kingdom profitable, this page can help you out. There are several important aspects to growing your Kingdom: Increasing your Royal Points, Collecting Materials, Constructing Buildings, Crafting Items, Farming, and Expanding your Kingdom.

Increasing Your Royal Points

Your Kingdom’s Royal Points is the key indicator of success. Increasing this will allow you to explore further in the forest and expand your Kingdom.

Your Current Royal Points in Castle Story are displayed on the main game screen, and is indicated with a purple and gold crown. As you build more Royal Buildings and Walls, your Royal Points Value will increase. Higher level buildings will give more Royal Points. Increasing your Kingdom’s Royal Points also allows you expand your Kingdom further. For instructions on expanding your Kingdom, see the “Expanding Your Kingdom” section of this help file.

Gathering Materials

Materials like wood, stone, and iron ore can be obtained by chopping trees or mining rock piles in the area.

If you don’t have any rocks or trees left, you can buy and place new ones from the Nature category of the Market.

You can also get materials from tending flowers and animals, harvesting crops, and gifting!

Constructing Buildings

There are 4 types of Buildings that you can build in your Kingdom: Royal, Town, Crafting, and Resource. Each of them have a different function, but are all built from the Market.

  • Royal Buildings increase your current Royal Points, and can be collected for coins.
  • Town buildings are one of your main sources of income. Some Town buildings are unlocked when you meet new characters in the forest.
  • Crafting Buildings allow you to create items and decorations for your Kingdom.
  • Resource Buildings generate crafting materials for you to collect.

Here’s how you construct a Building:

Step 1: Tap on the Market Icon.

Step 2: Tap on the Building Category.

Step 3: Tap on the Sub Category you want (Royal/Town/Craft/Resource).

Step 4: Choose the Building you want to Build.

Step 5: Tap on the ‘Place’ button to place your building down.

Step 6: Tap on the construction site until construction is complete.

Step 7: Tap on the Building to finish construction. This may require materials from trees and rocks, or crafted items from a workshop. You can also buy these materials directly, or ask friends to send you them.

Crafting Items in Castle Story

Crafting is one of the most important things inside the game. Many quests and buildings will require you to make items that are needed inside your various crafting buildings. There are currently 4 different crafting buildings for you to create: The Workshop, The Forge, the Potion Shop, and the Kitchen. Each of these buildings have a different set of recipes that you can create.

Workshops are used for creating building materials such as Stone Blocks, and glue. You can also create several unique decorations to place around your Kingdom.

The Forge is used for creating suits of armor, weapons, and several other quest related items.

The Potion Shop will be essential to helping lift the curse that has befallen the inhabitants of the forest. You will also be able to create several essential items needed for crafting in other buildings.

The Kitchen creates meals which are needed for Adventuring. Your adventurers will be on quests of glory in far off places and will need your prepared meals in order to come back victorious with their spoils.

You can build a Crafting building from the Market under the Craft subcategory of buildings.

Farming

Crops are your primary source of food (needed for Kitchen recipes) and earning income. They are planted inside farm plots which can be purchased inside the market in the Nature category.

Once you have placed an empty farm plot, you can tap on it to select a crop to plant. Planting a crop will consume coins, and will take a specific amount of time to complete. Once your crop is ready to harvest, you can tap on it to collect. Crops produce coins as well as specific food needed for Kitchen recipes (Harvesting Corn gives you Corn).

Expanding your Kingdom

Expanding your Kingdom to nearby parts of the forest requires you to be at least level 3 and meet the requirements for that specific part of the forest. The 3 main requirements to expand are Coins, Royal Points, and Crystals. Your Coins and Crystals are consumed when you expand, but your current Royal Point value for your Kingdom must be equal or greater than what is required for that expansion in order to unlock it.

That should be enough to get you started and running a great Kingdom! There are many other fun things to explore in Castle Story, including playing with others. If you’re interested in details about these features, please read the sections below.

SOCIAL FEATURES

Castle Story is more fun when you play with friends and join in the community.

Community

The Community is composed of everyone who plays Castle Story. You can help members of the Community by visiting their Kingdoms or writing an encouraging comment on their walls. To find members of the Community, visit the Social page from the Main Menu and tap the Community tab. From here you can view a list of several Community members and go to their Kingdoms by tapping the Visit button.

When you visit another player’s Kingdom, you can interact with the buildings that have been built. This grants those buildings with bonus coins and will increase your Social Rating. Your Social Rating is displayed at the bottom of the Kingdom you are visiting and can range from 0 to 4 hearts. A higher Social Rating increases your chances of appearing at the top of the Community list when other players are looking for someone to visit. Keep in mind that you can only interact with a limited number of buildings at each player you visit per day, so if you want to get a Social Rating of 4, you will need to help several Community members or Neighbors (explained in the Playing With Friends section).

Creating A Storm8 ID

Before you can add Neighbors (explained in the Playing With Friends section) you must first create a Storm8 ID. To create a Storm8 ID open the Social page from the Menu and tap the Invite tab. If you already have a Storm8 ID it will be displayed at the top of the page. If you do not have a Storm8 ID, you will have to sign up for one. Remember that when choosing a Storm8 ID this is what you will give to other players if you want them to invite you as a Neighbor, so be sure that you choose wisely.

Playing With Friends

You can become Neighbors with your friends from other Storm8 Studios and Storm8 games or become Neighbors with Community members you’ve met in Castle Story. A Neighbor is similar to a Community member but you can send them gifts, and gain experience when visiting them each day. To become Neighbors you need to follow these easy steps:

Step 1: select Social from the Main Menu, tap the Invite tab and signup for a Storm8 ID if you haven’t already.

Step 2: tap the empty box next to the “Friend’s Storm8 ID” text, enter your friend’s Storm8 ID, and tap Invite.

You have now invited someone to be your Neighbor. They won’t show up as your Neighbor until they accept the invite.

Likewise, other players can invite you to be their Neighbor using your Storm8 ID. To see if someone has invited you to become their Neighbor, select Social and tap the Invite tab. Neighbor Requests that you have received will be displayed and you can either accept or decline them.

Giving Gifts to Your Friends

To give a Gift to another player, you must first add them as a Neighbor. You can then send a Gift either directly through the Neighbors page by tapping the Gift button next to their name or by visiting a Neighbor’s Kingdom and then tapping the Gift icon on the right side of the screen. When you send a gift, you are not giving up items you already have, and it doesn’t cost anything. It is like buying your friends presents for completely free! Your friends will surely appreciate that and return the favor!

Receiving Gifts From Neighbors

When a Neighbor sends you a gift, a News icon will appear on your screen. Tap it to open it and accept or decline the gifts you’ve been sent. There will be an option to send a return gift.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Animals

Animals can be bought from the market for coins. You can feed them and help them grow to an adult size. Feeding baby animals will give you coins, and feeding them as an adult will give you coins and materials needed for crafting.

Nature

As you explore the forest, you’ll encounter various types of nature which you can interact with such as Rocks, Trees, Flowers, and Grass. Interacting with these objects can give you materials needed for crafting, items needed for quests, and much more!

Rocks and Trees have a set amount of times you can mine them before they are removed.

Flowers and some Plants can be tended for rewards, but require you to wait before collecting from them again. To remove them from the board, you can sell them.

Grass and some bushes are similar to rocks and trees, but are removed from a single interaction.

As you level up in the game, you’ll gain the ability to purchase and plant nature items from the market. Some things like Flowers, Rocks, and Plants can be collected after purchase, but Trees require you to water them from a sapling state in order for them to grow into a full size tree. This is similar to the way animals work.

Monsters

Building a glorious Kingdom is not without some risk! Monsters and other baddies lay in waiting and will try to stop you from harvesting your crops, tending your flowers, and clearing trees and rocks. If a monster appears, it guards a small area around it that you cannot interact with until the monster is dealt with. To deal with a monster, you need to only click on it enough times to reduce its health to zero. Monsters will also drop special materials and rewards which will help you on your adventures.

Adventures

Once you have gone far enough in your quest, you will have an opportunity to start heading out on adventures! Adventures will require various provisions which are consumed when you start your adventure. Once your Adventure party returns, you will be able to collect it and enjoy their rewards.

Quests

As you progress through the story, you will have various quests which different citizens will ask you to assist them with. Complete them and earn the rewards that come with them, and help find new citizens who are trapped in the forest.

There is often a button by a task that will take you to the right place to complete it. Next to that, you may see a “Skip” button. If you’d rather not do the task, but still want the prize, you can press Skip and use gems to mark the task completed without having to do it.

Elven Outpost

At Level 30, you will be able to recover the Elven Outpost.

Expand to the Elven Outpost and help a new friend care for his Cloudsparrow to get the Elven Outpost open for business! Use the Elven Outpost to send resources to the faraway Elves, in exchange for their highly-coveted Runes.

When you see a large, blue bird outside the Elven Outpost, tap on the Elven Outpost to fulfill resource requests and complete deliveries. You have a limited time to complete all six deliveries, so act fast before the bird departs!

As a reward for a successful delivery, you’ll earn mystical Runes that may be exchanged for new and exclusive prizes like crafting buildings, kingdom-enhancing boosts, and much more!

Royal Games Events

Royal Games let you compete with your friends and other community kingdoms in a fun and friendly way! During a limited-time Royal Games event, you’ll compete for incredible prizes by completing tasks that earn points.

Don’t worry about going against players with a higher level than you! We’ll pair you with players around your level, so no need to be intimidated! Having smaller groups of players around the same level means more winners and prizes!

How you earn points can change from event to event. One event might have you slaying monsters, while another might have you crafting in certain buildings. Check each event’s How-To to learn how to earn points!

Boosts multiply the number of points you earn for a limited time. Take advantage of Boosts to earn more points and climb the ranks! The final rankings determine what exclusive prizes you win!

In addition to prizes awarded at the end of each event, you’ll also reach point goals and win prizes during the event. For example, you might win a bundle of Trade Tickets after 100 points and a sweet decoration at 500 points. The final goal prize might even be as exclusive as a brand new pet!

Do you have what it takes to finish a Royal Games event in 1st place?!?

Town Square

As you expand your Kingdom, you will meet new friends who can become Citizens of the realm.

Town Hall: You can choose which Citizens to display in your Kingdom by visiting the Town Hall and checking “In Kingdom”. If you reach the Citizen limit, you may uncheck “In Kingdom” on a Citizen to put a Citizen in the Kingdom into Town Hall. Which Citizens you choose to display will not affect your Kingdom Goals.

Store: You can purchase additional Citizens to display in your Kingdom. Characters marked with the Storybook Icon come with additional content such as exclusive quests or items!

Citizens On Quest: Sometimes Citizens may leave your board while you’re at a particular point in the Story. These Citizens will be marked as “On Quest” in Town Hall, and will return as you progress.
